Dewalt use to make a great set, with all sockets and ratchets. Can't remember the piece count but it was pretty high, No filler items.. they discontinued it.. was always going on sale at Sears for half price.. I tried to get one, but ultimately went with the gearwrench promo and got a complete 3/8 and 1/4 set for like $105 and no bs parts.

Dewalt has a similar one with like 204 pieces that's selling got about $150, but isn't the one I'm referring to I believe. The dewalt stuff does look nice. I have their combo and ratchet wrenches and they seem very well made, like a cheaper import version of proto.

I'm pretty positive it was the 204 piece set b/c I have one. It was VERY complete with the only "filler" really being the hex key sets but even those were better than your typical hex key sets b/c they were a longer length which made them much more usable in my opinion. Why they decided to get rid of that set and go towards the ones with more filler is beyond me b/c those things were always selling.

I got that set from Sears for a hundred dollars around two years ago. I believe that 204 is the same set or if anything is different I can't tell from the pics on amazon.

I have some pics of the 204 piece set I got from Sears a couple years back when they were blowing them out at ridiculously low prices. It'll show the differences btwn the set you posted and the set I referenced above.

I'll try to upload them sometime this week.

I've never seen a dewalt socket/wrench in the wild. I remember in the store that the ratchet seemed super heavy.

Got a set when Sears was making deals+points on them. Ratchet is heavy and a bit bulky but it has a smooth ratcheting action like GearWrench.

I picked up one of those sets at Sears on a killer sale. I can't remember the piece count, but it was a very nice set with a lot of pieces. I think I paid $50 for it and donated it to my motorcycle club meeting as a raffle price. Not that I need another tool set, but I should have picked up another set or a dozen at that price. Haven't seen them since.

I bought the dewalt 204 set as well back in late 2013 and I couldn't be happier with the quality of it. All 6 point sockets, in standard and deep length with knurled edges, 72T ratchets, anti-slip heads on the wrenches, allen keys come in a little holder, comes with socket extensions and universal joints etc etc.

I remember at the time I got a good deal on a Craftsman 200 (China) that I bought online and then spotted a leftover stock USA made one at my local sears that they let me return and swap for. BUT then I saw the quality of the Dewalt sets that were made in Taiwan and suddenly I didn't care about my Craftsman USA set anymore. The quality of the Dewalt set blew away the craftsman stuff at the time and probably still does.

To the OP, are these Dewalt 200 sets China or Taiwan? and do the wrenches have the Proto style "anti-slip" heads?

Well i got my kit.

Its ok but hardly jaw dropping.

Ratchets lookk fantastic but i am feel is not impressive. They are just way too beefy, much more than need be. They are super thick too, even the 1/4 inch.

I took for granted that it would have a 12mm wrench, instead it goes 10 11 13 14. wrenches are the basic version.

Only thing i like are the extensions but by doing the math this kit is still nto worth the 100 after taxes considering SAE was a " just in case" for me.

And the sockets, i like them a lot...but not wroth the money considering i got a metric kobalt 1/4 set on closeout at Lowe's for 5$ to keep as "mobile set" in the car.

I will definitely look in to Dewalt extension sets, i seen a few that come in a case. Thats a neat bonus. Such as this

Bottom line is that if it comes around on sale for 50, im game. But not for 90:(

PS: super unrelated but this is nice. I got a set of titanium bits from HF back in 06(********* metal box) for similar price and just now realized they are not so bad after all. Granted that was back in the day when even HF wasn't so cheap cheap.

This set reminded me of it.

Great price. I like DeWalt stuff. I should pick one up. Could've used a set of tools the other day. I threw the extension cord, circular saw, drill, tape measure into my Jeep to go help a friend replace a broken step on his porch.

But then he asked me to take a look at his fridge, and he didn't even have a crummy adjustable wrench for me to remove the fasteners off the back of it.
