I have had ISSUES with Milwaukee, DeWalt, and Bosh shop radios. They usually last about 2-6 months before they go out, nothing but static. I would bring them back to Home Depot and exchange it for another one, that part went well. I finally called all 3 companies and talked to their tech service person and all 3 companies told me the same thing. They are not built out of hardened electronics, which means that if you do any welding near the radio, 20 feet, the pulse when ever you strike an arc will burn out the electronics. I was told to buy a car radio, set it up in a box, get a 120VAC to 12VDC transformer, then wire up speakers. I bought a car radio, set it, wired my shop with speakers and this system has been working without issues for 18 months.
I don't know anything about the DeWalt Tough System player, but it is a good read on their web site. Is it built out of hardened electronics, doubt it. If you will never be around anyone welding, then should be OK
