Not sure, I just got the adapter and use the 20v batteries on my 8v tools.

How anyone still buys nicad tools today is beyond me, but as long as people do - Dewalt will keep selling them, riding the last bit of that successful wave they enjoyed.. I give it a year or so before that whole flexvolt nonsense gets abandoned..

I'd just sell the stuff locally on OfferUp or something. Trading in would result in pennies on the dollar -- even if they had such a program.

Unless your a contractor beating the **** out of your tools, buy the adaptor and continue to use the 18 volt tools. I just bought an adapter with 2 batteries for $99 at a local store and this item has brought new life to my tools. They have more power now when they were brand new.
Like I said, I am not in construction and using the hell out of them. I have the 1/2" drive impact, the smaller impact and a hammer drill. Most look like new and have seen use in several remodels. Just can't justify dropping good tools for the latest and greatest. Especially when Dewalt came out with the adaptor set. When these die I will move onto the 20 volt line, but I don't see that happening soon.

NAPA runs a trade in program for Dewalt every year or so, usually in the spring. It's not a full trade but you can get some money taken off the purchase of a new tool. If I remember correctly they even took non Dealt tools too.

Why not do your own trade in by selling the ones you have and using that money to buy new ones? Bet you'd come out further ahead doing that than you would if you traded them into Dewalt.

By the time I am done with them they are junk and not worth selling and this is a place I reach out and buy good although I might get some BD for running screws. The 28 is getting heavier all the time but they do all or drilling and havnt used a corded drill in a decade and then once on a wood working job.
