I've read through this before and it essentially tells me nothing.

Power = {A(Speed) + B(Torque)| 0<=A<=1, 0<=B<=1} = UWO

Without knowing the values of A or B then we cannot know what percentage of Power is represented by Speed and Torque.

You need to know the speed and drive size to convert from the new power tool rating to torque. It looks like a new industry wide standard to show actual working power.

Using 560 as a constant (K) should get you in the ballpark.
Use the max RPM of highest torque setting...low range or first speed setting on most drills.

RPM x IN-LB / K = UWO

-or-

UWO x K / RPM = IN-LB

I thought I'd try to decipher the conversion between in-lbs and Dewalt's mysterious UWO. So far no such luck.

DCD980M2 - 535 UWO
DCD980M2 - 80 Nm

DCD985M2 - 535 UWO
DCD985M2 - 80 Nm

DCD990M2 - 650 UWO
DCD990M2 - 80 Nm

DCD995M2 - 650 UWO
DCD995M2 - 80 Nm

The original rationalization was that they could gear up a drill to higher RPMs but produce less torque to satisfy those who are drilling into soft woods and thus would benefit from the faster material removal. Even though it could stall easier, it's not really often people push the drills to max torque so it'd "feel" more powerful because of the gearing.

However, with the same torque and RPMs, they're just bluffing on this one. They can't sell you on a new brushless drill if the specs are exactly the same as the brushed!

Seriously, go by the torque figure you found on the UK site, the EU has testing standards (for both wood and metal) that all brands must adhere to. The UWO marketing **** is just that....****.
