Does anyone have a drawing of the brake fingers for the Diacro 24 inch box and pan (finger) brake, or be willing to make a sketch of the end profile of one to throw up on here for me and hopefully others to use to make a few? A sketch of the retainer clamp would also be nice. Thanks for any help.

If you can wait until this week end , I can get you all the info you need...I bought one for $100 bucks , it came with 2 , or 3 , of the original dies, and a whole coffee can of fabricated ones the previous owner made to replace the missing ones....I believe he fabricated them out of 1/2" plate....the clamps can be fabbed out of angle iron...or 3/4" x1/8" thick strap steel...I'll see if I can't get some pic's & dimensions....Shawn

Shawn, that would be great. I'm sure there are others than myself who would like to replace some fingers. My brake had none, and was converted to a standard brake. I'd like to convert it back to the box and pan mode.

Occupant, I've got a Pexto 24 inch finger brake. Not sure if it is the same, but I can mic the fingers and clip and throw a SW sketch together if it helps

If you don't mind, why not? Even if they will not fit a Diacro, someone may come along looking for the design of a Pexto. Sharing is what it should all be about.

I have a DiAcro #3 24" box & pan there are other models the fingers maybe different

the fingers are 25mm thick x whatever length
the bevel is 45*
they are 4 1/2" long
there is a 5/16 x 18 tapped hole 1/2" from the end

and they've been heat treated

for the retainer clamp drawing I'd contact DiAcro:thumbup:

Thanks guys. I have an opportunity to get a Shop Fox 24" finger brake for a reasonable price, and am weighing converting mine back versus getting that one. I wanted to see what bar stock size they are and how much work to make them. The Diacro will bend heavier sheet than the other.

Occupant....is this close to what you have now?

My fingers are exactly the same as this drawing.
The hold down clamps are just .750" wide pieces of aluminum angle with 5/16 holes in it for a bolt, cut to proper lengths. They're very simple.

Sorry, I've been slow with a bunch of stuff going on.. I measured mine and they are the same as Kevin's drawing.. Same geometry but different thickness.. Quick sketch of the top bracket.. .25 thick angle w/ 5/16 straight through..

Looks like:

(2) 6" Inch wide
(1) 4.5"
(1) 3.0"
(1) 1.5"
(1) 1.25"
(1) 1.0"
(1) .75"

Yep,,Kevin's drawing is the same as mine...sorry it took so long to get back..had some honey do stuff to take care of....the clamp is angle iron one leg 1" long the other 1 1/4" long, with a 5/16" clearance hole, midway...Mine look like they were fabbed up with some 1/2" & 3/4" stock, welded together & then machined to finish size...Shawn

Hi, I realize this is an old thread, but hoping for some help with measurements for the finger support arm.... I found an old brake that someone cut these arms off of, and I need to make new ones and weld them on in the right place.

Thanks in advance if anyone can help.

Just saw this. I will try to get some measurements when I can, but it may be several days or more. It is winter storm time here right now, so no shop activity.

Ok hammermfg, went out to that cold *** shop today and got some measurements for you. My desktop is down right now for drawing, so it will have to be descriptive.

Arm length. 5-1/2"
Arm height. 1-1/2"
Arm width. 1-1/2"
Slot. 7/8" wide, 1-1/2" reach.
Rear hole. 5/8" diameter
Hole centers for pins. 4-1/8", as best as I can access.
Front overhang. 3/4"
Rear overhang. 1-3/4"
1-5/16" from top of arm to top of main bar.

That is awesome, thanks so much!!! I know what you mean about a cold assed shop...

They must be a great tool as they command quite a price unless you can find a deal. look forward to being able to use it soon and making some crisp bends.
