Re: Diag carts

I've been thinking about setting one up as well, I like the idea of incorporating a battery charger into it

Looking forward to seeing some replies..

Re: Diag carts

I just purchased 2 Harbor Freight black 4 drawer carts. Using one for diagnostic and other for service.

Re: Diag carts

I don't have one but a idea regarding power would use a retractable type of extension cord for power.

a battery charger underneath would be a good idea just don't leave any batterys under the cart as they could go boom sending your cart flying...

Re: Diag carts

We have two set ups at work.

We took a snap on end cab, made a frame for it with casters, and use it for our laptop based scan tools.

The laptop sits on top. The power supply unit is velcroed to the back of the end cab. Each bay has a retractable extension cord on a reel so, that powers it. Each drawer stores a separate scan tool (IDS, MDI, Witech). Keeps things organized and easy to use.

The second unit we have is a neon green viper unit that we picked up on amazon cheap. Same concept, it just came with wheels attached.

The good thing about using an end cab unit, is that it has a smaller footprint than a regular cart allowing you to get closer to a car and fit next to hoists.

I like this idea the smaller foot print would be handy where ever I went as it seems like there's never enough space the only problem I see is they could get tippy with such a narrow wheel base anyone have that issue

If u get time (and it's cool with the boss of course) could u snap a few pics and post em or send em to me please thx much

Nobody???

You may not be getting many replies due to the title of your thread. I checked it out and wondered what a Diag cart was. I didn't realize you were abbreviating diagnostic, I thought maybe it was a brand name or something.
:dunno:

I edited your thread title, hopefully, it will gather more replies for you.

Rako,

Just load some heavy stuff (i.e. steel plate) in the bottom of the end cab. A low center of gravity will make the cab quite stable Also, use small casters with the end cab to keep the cab low.
