Domestic? Import? Euro? One make or several? Basic code reading and livedata or more in-depth stuff for driveability? Budget?

I've got access to quite a few in the shop; all of them have good and bad points.

For ease of operation, I'll grab the OTC Genisys for a quick scan and look at the PIDS.

For those complicated driveability issues, I'll use Autoenginuity and my Pico scope.

Have an older Modis that still works but needs to be updated. Still a great scanner with a very good scope with presets.

I'm biased towards Snap-On...but that's because I own a Solus and it does everything I need it to do.

All the shops I have been in would provide you with access to the higher end scanners... I don't see how it would be cost effect for a tech to spend 2k+ on a scanner and paying to keep it updated.... Ive always had $200 scanners for personal/ side work.... Especially someone just out of school I would spend money elsewhere..... I have experience with the MODIS (I think they are 8k).. Not the one you are looking at though..
