Looking for a place to repair my Mitutoyo dial indicator - a place that is cheap and will do a decent job.

or I could replace it... if so, what?

About the only thing I use it for these days is brake rotor runout

By the time you send it to Long Island Indicator and they fix it and send it back, you can buy another one for less money; BTDTNA.

For brake rotor runout, any Chicom $13.95 piece of junk will be fine.

My friends who are machinists just replace their measuring tools when they become suspect. Commonly used tools like calipers get replaced every year. Maybe your employer will buy them for you, or maybe not.

Ive had bad luck with indicator repair places...usually just find another one used for less than repair cost. If the indicator is just sticky i have had some success using quick drying electronics cleaner in aerosol cans.
