I keep telling my wife that some day the ones I bring home from garage sales will be "gold".

Anybody remember where the plant was located in Duluth? I know it's gone now.

Anybody remember where the plant was located in Duluth? I know it's gone now.

It came down in 1995.

It was located at 4630 West Third Street (Grand Avenue) , between 46th and 47th. The Denfeld Center occupies the site today.

In fact, at the corner of Grand and 46th Ave., there is a memorial (the green area in the above photo) to Diamond employees.

Here's a family pic I took of my Diamond adjustable pliers for another thread today.

I did a search for a thread showing Diamond tools and this is the only one I could find so I’m going to post my pictures here. In order to keep track of my Diamond tools, I’ve been storing them in a Kennedy carry box. The dark adjustable wrenches are wartime. It looks like I forgot the large Diamond Calk auto wrenches but I’ll get them next time around.

DH-16 “Handyboy” pliers.
Also, agree that the fencing pliers are the gold standard.
I have a pair as well.

My dad died almost 20 years ago, and I just recently was able to acquire some of his things. One was a clogged-up 10" Diamalloy adjustable. Took a fair amount of work to get the thing apart for cleaning and the remnants of the green dip off the handle, but here she is. All cleaned up, jaws refaced, and ready to work another 20 years.

I've recently been bitten by the Diamalloy Love Bug after researching a small pair of cutters that I had, then thought I lost, and then was thrilled to locate again. Yep. Diamalloy. After realizing what they were, I went through the toolbox that they were in (inherited from my Papaw in TN) and lo and behold there was another (slightly larger) pair.

Great. 2 pair. That makes me a collector, doesn't it?:dunno:

So now I have ordered and received a small pair of duck billed pliers from fleabay. All three tools are impeccable quality. I can't wait to add a few more to the collection. Good, quality tools are not always easy to come buy but well worth the effort.

Saw this lot on an online auction last week. High bid was $122.50 + fees and tax! Too rich for my blood!

Some beautiful tools here. I have a 10" adjustable that was passed down through three generations to me. Pretty darn ugly compared to those here, but still works/feels better than any of my other adjustables!

I like my Diamond tools. Here are two I bought new in the early 1980s and still use often. the 4" adjustable isn't a toy, although it looks like one.

My addiction to these tools is growing.

I have the 8, 10, 12 and 18" adjustable wrenhces now too...

I never knew I needed an 18" adjustable wrench until I had one. It's surprising how many excuses I've found to reach for the "big boy".

I found these at a garage sale on Saturday and they cleaned up nicely. They went into my regular toolbox as users rather than the Diamond box.

New member here. I am originally from Minnesota, so have an affinity for vintage Diamond tools. My adjustable wrenches range from 4" to 18", altho I am still missing the 15" size. The 18" needs the worm screw. It's different from newer ones I've seen, in that the worm is 3-1/2 teeth per inch instead of 4. I plan to machine one on the lathe, unless there is a source for them somewhere.
A couple of Diamond tools in my collection not yet seen in this thread are an auto wrench (cyl head bolt closed end on one end, open end spark plug wrench on the other), and tin snips (mine are 8" chrome plated).

I have a pair of snips, but I think mine are 12" :)

I picked up some Diamond nut drivers earlier this year as well; I suppose it's about time I posted an updated picture of my Diamond stuff.

Nice collection. I like the chrome snips. The wrench looks like it’s for early Fords. Here are a few more Auto wrenches that I forgot to show upthread.

I have a couple "Auto Wrenches" as well, but mine are part of the beginnings of my Vlchek tool collection. I have gotten interested in those because of their local (Cleveland) heritage.

Binderminder, if you're looking for a 15" adjustable I have seen a few on eBay recently. That's not necessarily an inexpensive way to fill out your collection, but it is effective nonetheless. Most can be had for $40 or so.

Hi DIY:
$40 is reasonable enough for a 15" adjustable, but for me part of the satisfaction in tool collecting is "the thrill of the hunt", and I imagine many on this board have the same experience.
Nearly all of my Diamond Tool adjustables were swap meet finds, and priced much lower. The only exception is the 12" which I got for $2 at a police auction.
Until now, I have never heard of Vlchek tools, although I am a new member here. I hope you post some pictures some time.
B.

I scored this decent looking pair of giant water pump (geez, do seagoing ships have water pumps?) pliers. Buffed a couple of rough spots and cleaned up the handles, and they look pretty good!

I’m a big fan of the large ones. I used to use them to push caliper pistons back into the calipers when replacing brake pads.

I came across this pair of slip joint pliers with a bunch of odds and ends tools.
As you can see, the marking says “D C” on a diamond shaped background with “Duluth-USA” below. They are identified as K 35 and say “forged in USA” on the opposite handle.

I ran across these Diamond N-15 Straight Nose Pliers in my tool box. They had been in my Dad's 'junk drawer' for as long as I can remember. I never paid any real attention to them as I thought they were nothing special. I have no idea how long he had had them. They were the pliers we grabbed when we need one in the house and got a lot of use.

Why it was first called Diamond Calk and Horseshoe. We have lots of old diamond but these are the ones we get comments about.

A Low Down Stinking Rotten No-Good Thievin' Varmit slithered off with my Snappy bent needle nose pliers and my Snappy diagonal cutters....
I have a vintage pair of Snap On dykes that replaces my users, but I wasn't able to replace my bent nose pliers until this weekend.
Found a Diamalloy
