is there an additional charge for the amount of wear on the grinding wheel?..........reason i ask is because the local rental of a brick saw with diamond wheel would be micced b4 and after use and charged for the wear incurred...........reason i bought my own wheel.............

In Los Angeles Sunbelt Rental runs about 80/day for a dual head Edco, it takes 6 inserts, and the diamond ones are $20/day each, total $200.

Thanks for the info guys. Found a 10" gas powered EDCO at local Sunbelt for 75/day. Price includes diamond blades.

Sounds like some of these have an option for sucking up the dust as you go? I need to smooth my floors a bit to make easier to sweep and had considered a rental but was concerned with massive dust.

The Edco does have a dust outlet to hook a vacuum to. Personally though I don't think it's worth the effort, the Edco with diamond inserts really doesn't kick up too much dust, that's not to say it's a clean operation, but most of the material is large enough that it just collects on the floor and is easily swept, or vacuumed, up.
What does make a big mess is the angle grinder with a diamond cup or masonry disc . If you have the option to get one with a dust hood - that's worth the effort.
In Americus, GA Volvo Rents was $85 per day for dual head EDCO, (after 2pm on Fri til 9am Mon is one day) plus @ $58 for fine stones and $96.50 for dia wheel for 7" or 9" angle grinder. Total, taxes fees and all @ $265.00. Must be full of gas and rinsed off at return. Super nice guys and very helpful to my ignorant self.
