My epoxy project is coming up and I'm looking at electric diamond grinders I have in my area. My best bet is probably SunBelt and the two options I'm seeing that are actual diamond grinders are the Edco 10" (Model TG-10-5B) and the Lavina 21" (Model 21-x). The Edco is around $90 for the day and the Lavina is about $225. Not a small delta, but it's not a small garage either. Just curious if anyone has experience with either of these (especially if you have experience with both) and can offer an opinion. Is the Lavina worth the extra cost? A few notes about the space I'm prepping:

1400 sqft of very smooth machine-trowled concrete. I have both 110v and 220v in the garage so I can use either grinder. Vapor barrier under so concrete is very dry. Concrete was poured 10 months ago and hasn't suffered any real abuse/staining (apart from some drywall spackle) as this is new construction so no cars/equipment have been in here to stain the surface. Though there will probably be some trace paint from when I do the walls/ceiling the week prior.

Thanks in advance!

Worth noting that while both have a cowl around the edge to minimize dust flare-up, the Lavina also has integrated dust collection via a vacuum attachment.

I consider the Lavina a better machine but make sure that they have the tooling/stones that you'll need. Equally important is the dust extraction. Whichever grinder you choose make sure it has a good shroud and a compatible HEPA dust extractor. You may want to pick up a shroud for your angle grinder as well...

The one i used had blocks that were hammered in with wedges. might have just been this rental but what a pita. damn things kept popping out. By the end of the day i was hammering the wedges so hard they were splintering.
Use a shop vac if it doesn't come with dust collection. Nice to have hepa but use what you got

The vac is very important and needs to be designed for grinding as a shop vac filter will plug up in minutes and when you lose suction you have a huge mess of dust. Also maybe invest in a Dust Deputy to to entrain the dust in front of the vac.

The Edco 10 is a nice machine but 1400 sq ft go bigger if it's in the budget.

I'm guessing that if you figure sq" per hour that the cost will even out. Also figure the cost of the stones as they are above the machine rental.
