Diamond Grinding???

Hey guys, I'm trying to plan my weekend and I don't have a clue how long it will take me to grind the floor. It's a 4 year old floor in good shape that is sealed. I would appreciate it if you guys can give me an approximate amount of time it took you to grind a 2 car garage. Thanks!

Sadly, it could take a while. I did my 1000sqft of wood shop (not sealed) in a few hours. I have a two car (sealed) I started grinding yesterday and today and I have about 7 hours in it so far and probably two left with a diamond hand grinder. What a PITA!

Get a good Edco grinder with the diamond blocks and stick about 50lbs of weight on it.

Tough one. The problem is there are a lot of variables; the machine used (isngle or dul head, size of disc), the media with the machine (diamond or not, new or old), the composition of the concrete (how much aggregate, additives), its finish (rough, smooth, over worked), the sealer used, exactly how many ft2, etc, etc. But with a nice level some what smooth floor a fair guess would be 3 - 4 hours, probably tilting to the 4 with good machine and media.

Thanks guys, I was thinking of renting on of those large floor polsihers with the diamond bit. I don't think I would have the patience nor the time of using a hand grinder.

Hand grinding certainly isn't glamor work, but you may have no choice if you want to get right next to walls and in the corners. Good thing is that in total those spots don't add up to that much area.

I can do a 500 sqft garage in 45 min. with a 24" dual disc Edco grinder with a 15hp engine. Hitting the side and kissing up to the walls with a 7" grinder is another 20 min.

We do 2-3 garages a week so we have a system down. With a decent grinder and a helper to sweep off the areas you have already hit you can probably have it finished up in a couple of hours for a typical 2-car garage. Just take your time and keep the grinder moving from side to side. If it's just a clear sealer it should come right off with a good machine and decent grinding blocks.
