Did I do good - Air compression

Since I built the garage attached to my house, I've been dreaming about air compressor. First I wanted something small...then I got infected with GJ virus and I wanted 2 stage 7.5HP 80 gal Ingersol Rand... but since my garage is in a residential area and I only have 40A 120V service for the whole house and shop, I again lowered my sights and kept looking for something smaller.

I was going to use it for occasional spray painting, a bit of sanding, a bit of die grinder etc...

My SO sent me to a local HD to buy few pairs of latex gloves... and there it was... in a big pile of stuff, marked 50% off or more... There was stuff that they are clearing out or stuff that is a bit damaged, etc...

So instead of only latex gloves, I went out the door with Campbell Hausfeld VT6233 horizontal air compressor -120V, 2HP, 26gal tank, 5.5CFM. The only thing wrong with it was that one wheel was broken and the handle was missing... Out the door for 220$ :)

Haven't taken a picture of it yet, but here is one from manufacturers site to give an idea how it looks like.

So.. Did I do good?

Not bad at all. I bought a 10 year old used one for $150, but the pump and motor is made in the USA.

Who cares about a broken wheel and handle. You can fix that. That looks like an oil filled crankcase compressor. Small compressors like that usually run for decades and keep working if you keep clean oil in them. I have a similar sized one that has been in my garage for over 20 years, and it still does the small jobs it was designed for.

Sadly, I paid more than that for mine.

I just cleaned it a bit, and put fresh oil into it (although it came with oil in the pump, but I changed it anyway).

It takes about 5 minutes to charge from 0 to 135psi. And I expected it to be far louder then it is... so another + for it.

The only thing I regret is that I bought a cheap made in china air hose with it... and that thing smells like sh**t.
