Bought this Mac MB1700 on ebay today, sure I'll sell the Craftsman side box and recoup a little of my money back, but even if I don't I think I did ok. Can anyone explain to a computer illiterate how to attach pictures so they're not sideways?

Just my opinion but that's one of the best boxes mac ever made . I wasn't born when they came out but I see them a lot in really great shape and I would say $560 is a pretty good price assuming it's paid off

Did my homework concerning seller before i bid and found out he's a very respected local seller, who knows the history of everything he sells. So the issue of box's past has been thoroughly investigated. I was born loooonng before this style box came out and was just wondering how others felt about them holding their value

Guess I worded something wrong, no seller hasn't sold this box before, but found out he sells a lot of boxes and is very diligent in researching the past of what he sells

seems like a great price, only concern seller has sold same box twice? why did first guy back out

Look at the Bid history of the first auction. Two guys in a bidding war after it reached $400 & both bidders are new with little feedback. (1 & 3 )
Could very likely be a case of buyers remorse & he didn't go through with the sale.

mentioned I'm computer illiterate, never saw that. But I did have a long time friend that lives in same town as seller and had him look at box and ask around town and everything seemed to check out. ..will find out in a few hours. ...

Martin, If you use Window photo viewer (and some others I just don't know which ones) at the bottom of the screen there is a arrow that lets you rotate the pics 90 degrees at a time.

Not sure of model numbers, but that looks a lot like the Mac box that was their lower end, same exact model sold as HD with a husky badge. I had the top box from that series. About same quality as Craftsman boxes. If that is the series then I think you overpaid a bit. If it is one of the more professional grade boxes then I think you paid a fair price. This os what I mean. http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=28014

About the same or a little lower quality than the Harbor Frieght boxes if it is the one I believe it is. May want to back out and get the HF unit if it is.

the side cabinet is a little wonky, one that fits right would look 2x better. but i would still rather have it on than off.

I buy a lot of boxes and I like MAC. I think you did well.

:+1: Hopefully it is as nice in person as it appears to be in the pics.

Looks like the guy is a tool seller based on sold history.

Just unloaded box at home, in great shape. To answer the question about box being relisted, first time seller listed it the buyer contacted him within minutes of winning and said he didn't mean to bid. Very nice guy to do business with and yes he is a tool seller, had a yard full of boxes for sale, in fact my brother is probably going back for a Snap On combo he has. Thanks everyone for the info, really like this site

That's a great box and you did well. I sold my mb1700 with hutch for $1000 two years ago. That is not a low end box, that was the premium model back in the late 80/ early 90's.

I have the original version of this box with slides on all but the bottom drawer and it has roller slide. Later Mac made all drawers roller slide. Worked out it for many years now it is in the home shop. I got it used sometime in the late eighties and it is still a good box today. Mine has the butcher block top. I've never seen but a couple of the matching top boxes and they had built in radio and speakers. No way I would take for mine what you gave even if it is kind of a catch all these days. The more I think about it mine I believe is a MB 1600, same as yours except for the slides and mine doesn't have the model badge.

Would like to get a butcher block top for this box, another thing added to the wants list I guess. This box has all roller slides for drawers. Best thing about this deal was that 2 of the other boxes he had for sale had some tools in them and he said " take what you want", end up with 10 distributor wrenches, few pullers, line wrenches, serpentine belt tool, Snap On volt amp meter and another handful of stuff I havent gone through yet, all in all I'd say it was a good day
