Up in Canada for a week visiting my folks I stopped by a new pawn shop that opened since the last time I was there. Came across a nearly new Made in England Record 4" vise, a roll of Gray Tools SAE combination wrenches (11 pc.), and a vintage (1937) 18" Snap On breaker bar - model 10CA. All in I talked them down to $120 CDN. Seemed like a good buy, but I couldn't find much pricing information on the Record vise or Gray Tools wrenches. The vise says 'Made in England' No. 100 - which I assume means 100mm. The jaws open 4.5" (115mm) and are 4" wide (100mm). I'd like to know how old it is. Also for the Gray Tools wrenches, the roll says "Roll No. 2009" - but I couldn't find anything on their website.

Wrapping up a vacation but will try to get photos up asap. The Record vice and Gray wrenches appear to be nearly new. The Snap on bar obviously has patina, but is in good working order.

Re: 100 meters ... I'm a Canadian living in the US, should it be a surprise that I get confused? Whenever I tell my American friends that 32 degrees is a hot summer day they have a similar reaction. I'll fix the post.

Ok, since the exchange rate has swung the other way making the Canadian Looney worth less than our hollow dollar, 1937 Snap on breaker bars may be slightly uncommon finds these days (would you actually use a 1937 vintage breaker bar?), and those Gray tools aren't readily available in the US outside of military supply channels, I'd say you did ok. in fact, I might even say you **** (all lower case without exclamination) but, that's just me. Nice haul:thumbup::beer:

The vice is similar to mine except it has a swivel base, I would be guessing it would be around 20 - 30 years old?? As to price, out here would probably bring AU $75 - 100 at a swap meet.

Thanks guys. It's good to know. I was surprised to see the vise at a pawn shop, but this is a small rural town, so I suppose tools are among the few things that have value around here. The owner told me to check back in the fall as he gets flooded with tools with a lot of seasonal workers unloading their gear. Thanks again.

^^ Oh yeah ... If it works, why wouldn't I use the vintage breaker bar? I was thinking of keeping it in the car for junkyard runs, etc.
