I found these two Record hammers in my father-in-law's garage. I can't find any information on them online. Model numbers 667-0 and 667-2 (8 oz and 12 oz).

Do you guys have any information on them?

My memory is bad, but IIRC I think I remember seeing Record hammers (and other Record branded tools) for sale at Woodworkers Warehouse in the early 90's (before the stores went belly up). :dunno:

Most 'Record' hammers, certainly the more modern ones, are actually Marples hammers. Marples made a variety of woodworking tools, and some engineers tools too, mostly of very high quality.

My favourite ball pein hammer is a Marples. A little more solid then many, with superb balance. If I have something like number stamping to do I'm lost without it!

Marples were subsequently bought out by Record, and their tools were sold as Record Marples for a few years before both firms were bought out again!

The Marples hammers were very high quality, and my guess (it's only a guess) is that the Record hammers you have predate the takeover of Marples, and are probably something that they dropped when they had the better Marples tools to sell!

Record made all sorts of things under contract though, and those hammers look like something you'd find in an army tool kit or school workshop rather than on retail sale!
