I have some questions for you awesome people who have built your own homes. I hope that none of my questions are offensive, I am just curious about the investment etc.
1. How much did it cost you to build?
2. How big is your house building construction materials?
3. Do you have a pic you mind sharing?
4. What was the most challenging thing about it all?
5. Would you do it again?
I'm asking because DH and I have talked about building our own. We have practically NO experience, but we love to learn and there is SO much information out there to tell you how to do just about anything you want to know! We started building our kids' playhouses (two separate deluxe play houses that we designed ourselves.. both different.. one is a girly house and the other is a cowboy lodge.. but they connect via a breezeway at the back.. too cute. They are approx. 350 square feet. So far we're doing great on them and it's a real confidence booster even though it's a 'smaller' project than building a house.)
Basically, we have tastes that we quite frankly cannot afford! HOWEVER, we believe we can do the work ourselves in order to afford the floorplan and amenities that we like. We are loving the building part, the planning, and all that. We also have some friends with various talents (such as homebuilding, electrical, plumbing experience etc... ) to help guide us if we get stuck.
Just wanted to hear your home-building stories!!!!!
