I am havingissues with my die grinder burrs.
When using them on weldsthey chatter and grab. These are not cheap burrs, so I think they should operate smoother. Most of the material Im working with is mild steel.
I usingthem for weld cleanup mainly . [mig]
Any input?

You need to have a much firmer grip on the grinder. They're not stones.
Get two hands on it, and have a lighter touch with the burr.

I also find that the larger burs are easier to control. I use my 5/8" diameter a lot more than the 1/4". Sometimes you have to use the small ones. Like already said, let the tool do the work.Don't try to force a bur or it will take off.

Are you using a straight die grinder or a 90 degree? 90 degree die grinders chatter like hell with a burr bit! If using a straight, carry on w/ other's suggestions.

Good point. I only use my 90 degree die grinder with discs (which bounce all around on a straight grinder).

x2 on the straight die grinder. I bought one specifically for my carbide cutters and leave it chucked in there all the time. Hold with both hands, don't try and cut "with" the rotation "pull" but pull lightly. If you're cutting aluminum, wax is a must, and regardless of what material, let the tool do the work. Slow feed and they work great. They are almost impossible to control on anything other than a straight die grinder tho.
