Dropped in Advance this afternoon saw a bunch of Die Hard branded power tools.

I bought the heat gun. Was $20... AC power. Seemed to get hot when I pulled the trigger. Color is a lovely battleship grey... Fabrique in China. Seriously that's the label.

Yippie ki yay!!?

Counter monkey said they're expecting hand tools... sockets wrenches blah blah blee blee

Craftsman vs Die Hard... Thunderdome style! Two brands enter one brand leaves!

Supposedly the hand tools are slated to appear in January. I believe it will be the existing TEQ tool line, but rebranded.
Theres some good deals in the TEQ/GW clearance.
Among other things, i picked up the COO-taiwan 3/8 long flex 84t ratchet for around $14 after Perks.
Heres a thread i started similarly:

I was really hoping they brought the Gearwrench brand back but that doesn't look like it's happening. Sure they are pretty much all just rebranded from the same tools but I have a lot of Gearwrench.

Die Hard is a car battery brand and a Christmas action movie.

Yes. And now also a brand of hand & power tools.

I wonder what the warranty will be like... lifetime I guess. But do I need to ship a broken ratchet to Nakatomi Plaza or just bring it into the local autozone?

I'm sure there's probably nothing groundbreaking in the works. But it is interesting to see another Sears name go through a rebirth and development.

For some reason I don't often think of parts stores for tools... maybe because I'm not a mechanic? And I usually hit Napa when I do need things & they dont stock any tools whatsoever.

Hopefully if you buy enough Die Hard tools, you'll earn credits and can get a free t-shirt. ;)

I'm actually looking forward to Christmas............ the only reason for me is for the last couple of years, one channel shows Die Hard ............. ALL DAY LONG........... it's awesome.

I work part-time at one of the Advance stores. I can confirm the Die Hard brand is replacing existing TEQ and GearWrench brand tools. We are already carrying the Die Hard line of cordless power tools. The TEQ/GW hand tools are on clearance so some great deals are to be had on most (not all) of those brands. There are tags announcing the Die Hard hand tools on many of the pegs that used to hold the previous brands of hand tools. This is not an "official" company announcement, just the experience of one PT employee.

A heat gun that gets hot. Who would have thought?
