That is correct. Triangle Innovative Tools Corp of Taiwan manufactures these. They call them Uni Grip Superman U Joints.
I have my suspicions Matcos are the same OEM but without the grip machined.
Have you figured out who makes the ratchets?

I cant say with certainty, but I think it might be William Tools Co LTD. (Not to be confused with Snap-on owned Williams Industrial.)

The 90t flex closely resemble components of these:

The 120t closely resemble these:

The 72t have similarities to these:

I was looking at the new Diehard ratcheting wrenches today. The ones I saw had that ratcheting open end design on the other end. That's an instant no go for me. I have a set of those in Craftsman and they still look like new because I never use them.

Totally agree. That was a bonehead decision. They are COO Taiwan, but I think that particular style was a bad choice. A modified open end like their standard combos would have been much better.

-edited after some more thoughts-

I am going to go the opposite way on these… If I am going to buy some cheap wrenches, I’m not paying these prices. The wrench looks fat on the open end and it is not very deep. The perspective in the photos above is a little tough to tell the difference, but these don't seem good compared to the SO or even the GW stuff that they are replacing. Fine if they are $20 for the set, not at the pricing these are coming in at. The TEQ Correct stuff was poorly named, but it was decent product. Really good value when on sale. Seems like Advance is going to slide this cheaper stuff in there and try to make more money and hope the normal consumer doesn’t notice.

The power tools are also cheap. Cheap power tools have a place in many if not most shops, but the Kimo is $59 and the Die Hard is $89. Am I going to pay a $30 premium to buy the DieHard from Advance? Nope. I can buy a corded 1/2” impact from Harbor Freight or Porter Cable from Amazon for 70-80 bucks, no way am I buying a Diehard branded tool for the same amount of cash. Same across the board on all of these power tools. If I want cheap, I can get it much cheaper. If I want to spend the money that they want, I am buying much better products.
Somewhat OT but I was not impressed with the Kimo 3/8" electric ratchet.

I see what you’re saying. A good example would be Duralast. They’re socket sets are bargain (IMO) for China made tools, but their 6 piece ratcheting wrench sets for over $70 after tax is absurd. They’re the same as GearWrench and I can get a 14 piece GW set for around $100 on eBay or Amazon. There’s no deal to be had there at Auto Zone.

I’m hoping AAP doesn’t price gouge just because of the Diehard name, but it’s too early to tell. If it’s the same Apex stuff as Husky and Duralast, but at a much higher price point… only those of us “in the know” will see it for it is. Most people would probably pay it thinking they’re getting a high quality tool just because of the Diehard name. People think they’re buying high quality Craftsman tools at Lowe’s just because of the name, when in reality they’re purchasing Chinese junk that’s lower quality than Pittsburgh stuff over at Harbor Freight.

I’m looking forward to see what their screwdrivers look like since I’m a screwdriver fanatic.
Well, this is too bad I thought we were going to see a nice line here but I guess not.

Picked up the first and only one I’ve seen in person so far. It was at the Advance Auto that’s right across from Auto Zone in the ghetto lol. Went in to see if there was any clearance and came across this. Me and my dad both agreed we must have this said rare wrench LOL. I can post more pictures when I get home if anyone is interested in seeing. It’s looking to me like a copy of Gearwrench and TEQ.
I got some of the rats and they are on par with icon I feel I think they are stronger tho much larger pawls and flawless finish

I was in my local AA parts store about two weeks ago and saw pretty much empty shelves with a few TEQ and GW products. The empty pegs had Die Hard labeling but no product. I asked the counter monkey when are they do in and who makes them and he did not know anything.

Can anyone provide a personal assessment of Williams Tool Co. LTD products over all. They must have other stuff on the US/Canandian Market?

I guess from the LOL emoji I can assume that means they are a joke? Or atleast Blakes opinion. IDK. I may be asking a dumb question?
If China ever decides to invade Tiawain, then all bets are off on anything made their moving forward. That is why some of the chip manufacters are begining to move out of there.

Spring loaded universal adaptor set (1/4, 3/8, 1/2)
Taiwan.
Same as Platinum, MotiveX, Titan, but slightly less expensive.
$19.99. (Even less with Perks bucks.)

(P.S. The new various 10mm socket set looks like a good deal for those budget minded.)

Does anyone have a part number for these? I could only find one set of universials on AA's website and the picture doesn't match nor the description say anything about spring loaded.

It may depend on the location of the advance auto. I prefer the Napa in New market, VA to any advance auto when it comes to tools. Your mileage may vary. I like auto zone too.

Yes I agree. My Napa carries Carlyle, Craftsman, Dewalt, Milwaukee and the cheaper Evercraft. Not always a lot of options in the store but they can order just about anything Carlyle and have it pretty quickly. I am not sure where AA is heading with their tool options. They do have some Lisle and Titan. I am not in the market for any new automotive type tools. I have pretty much all I need to do most anythig I would take on. However, when you break a tool and need a replacement quickly it is good to know what is out there.

I think old Blake uses the LOL emoji a lot. He would have to comment to clear that up though.
I asked him about it :))) on another thread one time, but he didn't reply, (maybe didn't see it)

I must of not lol. I always acknowledge anything directed towards me. Probably just missed it. My bad.

I reacted with that because I was laughing so hard at the fact he said counter monkey. Lol.

OK, I can see the humor in that. Not to disparage anyone working at an autoparts store but I think anyone objective has to agree that the knowledge base and willingness to help of the employees at these stores has dropped dramatically over the past 30 years. I am old enough to get away with saying that. The job has been dumbed down to approaching a typical retail store worker. There is one independent store left near me where most of the guys in there are ex mechanics or just have done enough wrench spinning to have a clue. I try to support them. As in The Rock Auto ad that says something like, "you hope" the counter guy types in the right info and gives you what you want. Thanks.

M6Z: lets us know how that Die Hard Flex head Ratchet works for you.

Picked up this beater. I dont think much of the new screwdrivers, but I found this solo demolition driver hanging with the other individually sold screwdrivers. The rounded tri-lobe grip is kinda growing on me:

I bought a set of offset wrenches for a VW project. They were fine. Seemed to be better chromed than yhe Duralast counterparts that I also had to buy (though the Duralasts were beefier). All of the Diehard tools seem a bit "Gearwrenchy" to me which can be good and, largely, bad. I wonder if many came out of the same factories.

I’ve been happy with the 3 ratchets I’ve purchased. 1/4” flex, 3/8” bent handle flex, 1/2” long handle flex. Also got the torx bit socket set for ease of warranty when they go bad. Warrantied a 10mm teq correct ratcheting wrench that went bad and it was replaced with a 10mm die hard ratchet wrench that I believe is much better made.

I always heard the old tec/duralast were rebranded gear wrench. Die hard probably is also.

So far I’m happy with all the DieHard stuff I’ve bought. And some of it I’ve been using at work so basically everyday and it’s done just fine. Was happy to find I could get a 1/4 drive 1 1/2 inch extension locally now I’ve purchased two one for home and one for work and used the heck out of both. Wish they would see the individual 1/4 drive sockets though. They sell the extensions and ratchets individually why can’t they sell the sockets? I plan on buying more eventually. So far I have a metric wrench set, individual SAE 3/4 wrench, individual 7mm wrench. Two 1/4 extensions, and some individual sockets. The prices are a little steep and have went up a few dollars on ratchets I might pick up one tomorrow maybe. I don’t need it but man I want a comfort handle for home use lol. My metal handles aren’t good in the cold. Wish they had a hard plastic handle. I don’t see many people buying them but I guess not everyone goes to an auto parts store for tools but at least they have a name everyone will recognize.
