This is a good deal for a huge battery charger. I have the small version and it works great.

DieHard Manual Wheeled Charger/Starter
Sears Item# 02871230000 | Model# 71230
Now $66.99 or $61.99 after coupon and $20 back in points.
Reg $119.00

You get $20 back in points total if you load the coupon. Stack on the $5 coupon too.

Check out this review.

"Works great, besides battery charging it's a great power source for anodizing aluminum"

I bought the wheeled charger this morning.

Use a coupon for $5 off 50 to bring it down to 61.99

You Actually get $20.00 back in points on it if you add the coupon (10 in points on 50.00) as sears has a deal on now for every 50.00 you spend you get $10.00 extra in points.

I used some points and it cost me 54.00 otd, plus 20.00 in points.

There's also a $5 off $50 that works, in addition to the $10 in points for $50 spent. You can stack the $5 off and $10 in points.

I got this for $70 or $80 a few years back and it was a good deal at that when even HF was wanting $100+ for theirs

I've only used it a few times but like it fine for the $. TSC was recently selling one on sale but only 100A engine start; that's just putting a small charger in a big package.

The "Gold" version of the charger is also on sale with similar percentage off. If someone wants a step up.

For this one, you could then add a five dollar filler item, then use the $10 off $100, plus the $20 in points for $100 spent, plus and extra $20 in points for current promotion from Sears. Which would give $10 off plus $40 in points for later.

The $10 off and $20 in points off $100 won't work. I think because it is considered Automotive and not tools.

Are you including the points or did you pay $80 out the door. If so how did you do it?

If you have a points balance already you can get it for this price. You use the $5.00 off coupon, $10.00 bonus points coupon and redeem $20.00 of your points. It comes out under 80.00 and you get your 20.00 back in points you spent.

My points are in the negative right now. No points to use.

Thanks OP! I ended up going with the standard wheeled model. Couldn't justify the added cost of the gold model. After a surprise $10 in points for automotive, and the extra $10 in points back, I got it for $42 shipped to my door! I've been thinking about one of these for awhile, so I'm glad I got a deal!

I'm supposed to have $20 in points from some other purchases last week and they haven't shown up yet, otherwise I was going to use them on this.

I just bought the smaller one. I actually had a 10% off coupon for automotive that works out a little better than the $5 off. Thanks for posting! I have been looking for a charger for a while.

Does anyone know the coupon codes for all of the discounts referenced in this thread, and/or how long this deal lasts?

On the banner above the product click on Deals Center then after that loads click on coupons. You have to load the coupons in your account then apply them on checkout.

I am not sure when the sale ends. Even though I posted the deal here I am heavy resisting buying it because my small version works so well. Just can not find a way to justify the purchase.

Thanks OP! I've wanted one of these for years, I have a 100 amp Schumacher with a quick start setting that wouldn't jump start a motorcycle, this should work better. Managed to get mine for $57 with a coupon and a few points I had from Christmas shopping.

Anybody know if this is the right kind of charger to run an electrolysis tank?

It should work because it is not a "smart" charger. It is dumb, you turn in on and it does what you tell it to do. I had a smart charger before and it was very annoying. It would refuse to charge a battery that was going bad which I thought was the whole point! Stay away from computer controlled and fancy displays and it should work fine for electrolysis.

Thanks Jonathan, that was my hope but I wasn't sure.

Oh man that is a sweet price on the gold charger. I bought it back in october on sale with a 20% back in points. Ended up about $110 which i was happy with. Now....$95 before any discounts. And of course im just outside my return window. My little tabletop unit crapped out on me and i wanted this one for the 6v option and the 250a diesel starter.

If my tabletop version was broken I would go for the gold as well. I like the timer feature. Getting forgetful in my old age and having a timer would be nice insurance from overcharging.

Thank you. I'm kinda looking at the Gold version. Their site indicates that the Gold charger has a timer and automatic shutoff, but at the same time seems to indicate that it doesn't have an automatic shutoff. The picture of the charger itself says it has to be monitored, so a bit confused on that.

I think they are saying don't trust it. Probably the lawyers made them say it should be monitored. But the Gold does have a timer feature that should auto shutoff if you have it in that mode.

The gold one shuts off by itself if you have the timer going. If you have it on the "hold" setting, you have to monitor it as it will charge until you turn it off.

Thanks for the info. I guess the part I found confusing with regards to the automatic shut off was that their site actually says Automatic Shut Off: No I've never personally seen a charger with a timer and no automatic shutoff.

It would be nice these prices would last until 02/19 so that I could use some SYWR points that will supposedly be applied to my account that day.

Is the gold model really better than the standard one though? According to the specs its a little bit lighter. Also if you look in the bottom right hand corner of the pictures I think it says the max continuous output is only 15A where as the standard one will do 40A??

I downloaded the manual which says:

Timer Setting: The timer allows you to set a specified time for charging. After the timer expires, the charger stops charging your battery.

I picked up my manual one today. For the price I can't complain. Since it doesn't have the timer if I want it to auto shut off I just plug it in to my digital timer and set the time. For less then 50.00 with points you can't beat it.

When I picked it up at the Sears Auto Center, the guy saw my receipt, said that's a great price and went to the website and bought one for himself.
