Looking for advice from you heating guys. I've been adding Diesel Kleen fuel treatment to my Home Heating oil tank at the rate of 80 oz to 250 gal of HHO.

I use the same oil for both the oil heater and a Diesel Generator. I need the added lubricity for the injectors. What do you think!

Thanks...:headscrat

Is it a underground or a basement or a above ground storage tank? The following opinion comes from someone who has some experience in fuel handling and storage {1976) to current. Where are you located in general north south etc.

Hi.. My tank is in my heated basement where the temp stays around 68 to 70. I'm in Pa. near the NJ border. I do believe my HHO is of the ULS type.

Thanks..

Concur with DJ.

Have lived in/owned homes heated with oil fed furnaces for a long time.

With the reservoir being nice & warm in the basement, you will never have a problem.

There can be some advantages to using a diesel fuel conditioner however ! You won't have to worry about possible algae growth in the fuel as it's stored in the tank when the furnace is not in use, and you won't have to worry about possible condensation build up at the bottom of the reservoir (water sinks to the bottom and can rust through the tank, that I've seen a few times in very old tanks...but not my houses).

I never used conditioner, and never had a problem...but if you want the piece of mind, it won't hurt to add it.

As for your generator, if it's a recent unit, it should be compatible with today's fuels. If it's a really old unit, then by all means use something like Howe's diesel lubricant.

The best lubricant you can add to diesel fuel is 2-cycle engine oil.

I was having a lot of problems with my diesel trucks running rough since all the diesel supply switched to ultra-low sulfur AKA "almost no lubrication fuel". I typically add 0.5 oz per gallon. There is no additional smoke, no more rough running/idling, and better fuel economy.

Walmart sells 1 gallon jugs for about $13.00
