I mess around with a few diesels at my home shop and on our farm. I don't currently have any diesel injector line sockets. I could really use a 17mm one for one of my skidsteer engines. Should I just buy one socket ($45 from Snap on) or can someone recommend a set?? Again, just a hobby guy so not looking to drop hundreds of dollars, but if there are other common sizes I might want to just get a set....???

We use a regular wrench or a tubing wrench if really tight.

Deere sold a kit for removing injectors and it included an SK tubing crowfoot wrench along with a small slide hammer. Look for Deere Serviceguard.

Ya honestly my snap on open end has never had an issue with 17mm injector lines on small kubotas and whanot.

They are worth it if you're extremely picky on torque IMO.

i rarely use a line socket on a kubota, open end or angle wrench is usually all i need.

at the pump end theres usually not enough vertical clearance before you hit the manifold, and the muffler is in the way at the injectors.

Good point. That's where I've had to take off multiple lines to hit one. [emoji106]

I am working on a little 4 cylinder perkins 1.9 liter. Pretty tough to get to the lines on the pump... I assumed everyone used the "special tool"....apparently not.
