difference between these Provost couplers

I have a Milton V system but can't find a good swivel to use so I am switching to provost couplers. I found these 3/8" FNPT 2 provost couplers with a swivel and it seems the "safety high flow coupler" out flows the "regular high flow" coupler. It says the safety coupler is for "air supply" and the regular is for "air tools", what is the difference? Can I use the high flow safety coupler for my air tools since it flows more?

Also, can I use Milton V plugs with provost or should I use the provost plugs? Are provost like Milton V plugs where the difference between the 3/8" & 1/4" plugs is the threads but body is the same? Does provost have a high flow plug.

Lastly, I can't find anywhere that can get the 2 couplers, anyone know of a distributor?

Here are the 2 swivels couplers

Regular high flow swivel:

I buy the male fittings from these guys on ebay in the 10 packs. http://www.ebay.com/sch/m.html?_odkw=prevost&item=281130190224&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&_osacat=0&_from=R40&hash=item4174aa4590&_ssn=pacificaircompressors&_from=R40&_trksid=p2046732.m570.l1313.TR11.TRC1.A0.H0.Xprevost+high+flow&_nkw=prevost+high+flow&_sacat=0

Best price I've found anywhere and they ship very quickly.

The safety coupler doesn't release the male plug until the air pressure on that side has been released. This is to prevent hose whip or firing plugs out like a cannon.

I don't know it the Milton V plugs will work or not. Prevost high flow is a direct interchange with Cejn 320 series (ISO DN 7.6 and 7.8 european interchange standard). I also use Parker RF series (Rectus 25/26) and Dynabrade (rebranded Cejn) fittings.

do both couplers flow the same, I have never had a issue with hose whipping around. Those plugs are for the European couplers I linked, correct?

Greatly appreciate the info man!

wouldn't the safety coupler take a lot of timing bleeding the air out? I like to switch tools fast.

How much better than Milton, Milton states a flow of 70 scfm and provost is lower but I think Milton is way off on that claim.

I am speaking more to how quick and easy you can change tools.

As far as airflow goes, they are offered in all configs as far as male coupler type. I have to think they meet industry standards.

I am getting the European high flow version. I will say Milton V tool changing is pretty good.

got these yesterday, they look nice...Do you feel the sealant on the threads is good? I usually use yellow thread tape and a bit if pipe dope. The inlet is bigger than Milton, the threaded opening is a bit smaller. Apparently the safety high flows have been discontinued and replaced (link below) hope these plugs work with the new design!

I like the pre-applied sealant, but be careful when tightening them up in things. It adds to the thread diameter and I split the inlet of a brand new $50 long john air gun with one.

On the non-applied fittings or if I'm reusing them (well actually 90% of the pipe fitting I come accross), I use Loctite PST sealant. I don't have the patience for tape dope. :lol_hitti

I don't see why the plugs wouldn't fit in the new style coupler, the interchange design hasn't changed.

I think I will remove the sealant and use tape/dope combo. I am going with the regular high flow coupler dive the new designed coupler only come in 1/4" FNPT. The new design "ESI" safety coupler is a 1 push design instead of 2.
