I just ruined a line set trying to bend a 1 1/8" tube with a ratchet style bender Mastercool 70080 see pic. I'm considering my options of avoiding bends and sweating or brazing in fittings.

I'm also considering purchasing a new tubing bender:

I wasn't sure it will work with 0.050" wall tubing since it says 0.065 to 0.095 wall. Has anyone used this bender?

If I'm going to use fittings I would also like to use straight tube L water pipe. I know they are not dehydrated but I could cap them, purge them and vacuum them down over night.

Purge the the type l pipe with nitrogen as you heat it up red hot and let it cool. Should make work hardened tubing nice and soft.

Yes I have read that but if I go with the type L, I will be using fittings. I might have one bend to make in the type L. Ok to use Argon instead of Nitrogen for bending and brazing?
