Digital Adjustable Torque Wrench, via ToolGuyd

While I can see the utility in this tool, $400 seems to be excessive.

What tools would you recommend instead of this one? As I mentioned on TG, I'd use the $400 to instead buy a regular torque wrench, crowsfoot wrench sets, and a calculator.

wow... that is odd looking and looks like a HF tool or something from an infomercial.
That's what I thought at first, but the $400 price tag threw me off. That, and looking into it further, it looks like some serious engineering went into the tool.

That is straight up one of the dumbest things I have ever seen in my life. And I have seen an old lady try to pull a push door 3 times at the same door.

kind of like someone driving around the gas pumps and they keep pulling up on the wrong side. I watched a young guy do it for about 5 minutes until he got it right.
here's your sign.

Out of my mind... Be back soon!
Given the design of the wrench part, the centers are supposed to always line up.

With one side of the adjustable wrench fixed and the other movable, I don't see how the centers could line up... or am I missing something? Wouldn't both sides have to move away from the center to maintain the proper geometry for that?

Damn, sorry about that. I edited the TG post a few hours ago, but apparently the changes didn't take.

The attached pic shows how the fastener remains centered.

This is a joke, right? Another great idea from those people who gave the world the powered adjustable wrench.

I wonder if you have to keep adjusting the size each time you remove it from the hex?

Nope, apparently it's no joke. Also, the people that gave the world the powered adjustable wrench - that's Black and Decker. Now they bring us the 16 sizes in 8 sockets dogbone wrench. (GJ thread about that)
