Looking for a light timer with dimmer for an agricultural application.

We want to control the lighting in a totally-enclosed poultry house (no exterior light gets in). The idea is that the light comes on at a certain time in the morning and gradually brightens to full value over 30 minutes or so. In the evening, the cycle works in the opposite direction - gradually dims down to total darkness.

I've looked at the Intermatic catalog, and haven't been able to sort to find what I need. Not having much luck with Google either. I know there's ways to build what I need, but right now all I want is a simple off-the-shelf solution.

Any ideas? Thanks!

If it can be done with off the shelf bulbs and multiple light fixtures why not just do 2 or 3 cheap timers attached to individual fixture coming on and shutting off about 10 minutes apart? I've done similar for aquarium applications.

Intermatic will have a dimming feature on their Ascend product in a few months. Until then, they wont have an off-the-shelf product that does what you ask. I dont know of a product that will do it, unless you custom build something.
The on/off part is easy. Ramping up and down the light level over a specific period of time isn't a normal request.
There are complex lighting controls that can do what you want. They're used in health care products and other specific areas, at great expense, but they dont seem like they're what you're looking for.

Story of my life. :wtf:

I can install an agricultural lighting system, but the building may not be in service long enough to make that make sense. This is a system I've used before: https://www.once.group/all-products/?swoof=1&product_cat=broiler-lighting&paged=1 The control box does the dimming, and isn't terribly expensive.

I may wait for the Ascend system and see what they have. Multiple timers on multiple light circuits may also be possible, depending on how the room is already wired.
