The security light on my garage quit working and I need to replace it, however I can't seem to find an LED equivalent light. The one I had would turn on about 1/2 power at dark and then come on full power when it detected motion. Is that something that is available in a new LED light? I haven't been to lowes or HD to look yet (I'll go tomorrow at lunch) but looking at amazon nothing seems to list that option?

Heath Zenith dualbrite is probably what you have. They list a few dualbrite LED units such as this one, https://www.heath-zenith.com/t/motion-activated-security-lighting/led/240-degree-motion-detection. You have to look at their site and look at the specs on each fixture to see if it is dualbrite.

You can still find this, but it's getting less common. This feature was mostly done for energy savings and for maintenance. The old halogens were power pigs, so keeping them at a dim level saved a fair bit of money. Also, the lamp has a pretty short lifespan, and running it at a dimmed level extended the lifetime of it. LED has neither of these issues, so making an LED with bi-level output doesn't make much sense.

Thanks for the "dualbrite" tip, I'm finding a few by searching for that. It makes sense they had that feature for halogen lights, but it's also nice when you have bedrooms with windows on the same side of the house as the light and you don't want it always on full blast.
Doing more digging and reading some of the Q&A sections on HD website, it looks like a few of the lights with dusk-to-dawn features actually come on at a lower setting and then are brighter when motion is detected, they just don't mention that in their descriptions.

I still use the halogen ones. They typically come with 100 watt lamps, I relamp them with 60w. Nice low, warm glow at night and enough to readily notice when activated. Only have one, so I don't worry so much about consumption.
Oh, and they last nearly forever with the lower wattage. Another way to go would be to put a dimmer ahead of the halogen. Set and forget.

I ended up with the 2 light version of this. The dual brightness seems to be more common then the online descriptions would lead you to believe. Thanks everyone for the tips.

I just put up a couple of the Heath Zeniths. They were $20 something apiece and work great. One replaced a high dollar unit with integrated LEDs and I am glad it is gone. It never worked well and the light was very glaring.
