for metal cut chop saw
my chop saw 2100 watt 230v
and i wish to make slow

I am not an electrical/ electronic expert, but a lot of electric motors are not designed to be slowed down. Slowing them down with a resistor will burn the motor up like using 100foot of light gauge extension cord to an air compressor instead of hard wiring it to the wall with heavy gauge wire.

Make sure you do some research on the motor or even call the manufacturer. A lot of the industrial places like MSC, grainger and others sell a good variety of high watt, amperage, voltage controllers.

It won't work.

At least, it didn't for me. I tried it with a router speed control. The blade slows down, and then just stops when it contacts the steel. A dimmer-type control slows the RPMs by reducing the torque. You'd need to use gearing to maintain the same power.

You know, Northern Tool now sells a low-RPM saw for something like $250.
