Does anyone know if there are dimple dies out there that will work on ¼” plate? If so, where can I get them?

Yes, but in my estimation you need a hydraulic ironworker to run the punch and die set to make a dimple in 1/4" mild steel. I suppose a mechanical ironworker would work too but those things scare me...

An H-frame press won't work unless you work up a set of guides for the punch and die.

If you call up a company that makes ironworker tooling they can probably set you up. There are many companies making ironworker tooling but Cleveland Punch & Die comes to mind as a place to start for customs.

There is a member here who makes dimple dies. I don't know if his will do 1/4" or even his user name but he has an awesome thread about the race cars he restores in his shop. You may want to look him up and ask him.
