Dimplex Garage Heater

I am a home owner that has a lot of previous success with some pretty heavy DIY projects including running a 100 amp box in the garage and adding 7 outlets on 3 breakers, etc.



That said I just purchased a Dimplex euh12b84ct and have not been able to get it running.



I've run it about 7 feet from the box from a 60amp 2 pole breaker with 2 6 gauge wires running from the hot to heater and and 8 gauge ground.



The fan turns on when the thermostat is below the room temp but that is all I can get it to do.



Power is getting to Contactor but I am not sure where to go from there on the Trouble Shooting. I have a Multimeter but I'm a bit of a novice with it.

I bought a Thermostat to replace the one on it but have not hooked up yet. My first time with a 240v Themostat.

The wiring diagram shows 480VAC - is that what you have?

I was under the impression there was away to run it off of the 240 connection from the single phase 100 amp box.

Is that something I can do?

So from what I'm reading and what I think you are getting at is this can be single phase but essentially still needs to be run off of 480VAC which is essentially just a modified 3 phase.

A normal single phase 100 amp box wont work?

You need 480v for that heater, single phase or 3 phase but it needs 480v. You only have 240v available.

Also photo looks like you ran individual wires but no conduit. That's a pretty big issue.

Thanks. Doesn’t seem like 480v makes sense for me to get. I did run flex conduit just needed to be tightened, never made it there because I tested it and it didn’t run.

Sell this heater and get one that runs on 240v

Hard to see from the diagram, but it appears there is a 480-240VAC transformer in use for the controls. At first I thought it was 24VAC, which had me confused as it would seem a bit strange to have a 24VAC blower fan. 240VAC makes a bit more sense.

You could dump/bypass the transformer and get something to work. However the heat output would be MUCH lower ran at 240VAC vs. 480VAC.
