Direct Driver opener installation

In my garage there is not enough space between the metal beams and the doors to install these openers, however if i were to raise the jackshaft up and use an extended length through an opening in the beam i feel there would be space there. This would locate the opener above the neighboring door. Is there any reason the shaft couldn't be made longer than standard?

I have seen the center door in a 3 door install using an eight foot extension.
If you have a Menards near you, check out their cart return doors.

You may have to get longer cables and add an extra support bearing on the shaft near the opener location. You need to keep a minimum of 3/4 wrap of cable on the drum when door is closed. Minimum. The opener 3800 or 3950 is meant to hang on the tube and since you will be extending it about 16" the extra bearing will be needed. Just my opinion.
