I am looking at the Direct Lift Pro-Park - 8 Plus from Greg Smith. This lift is similar to the Direct Lift Pro Park - 8S but it can lift the vehicle higher. (The max lift height is 72" for the Pro-Park 8S vs. 86" for the Pro-Park 8 Plus). While I don't plan on lifting the vehicle to the 86" position, there are several intermediate positions, such as 74", 75", 80" and 81". The idea is I want to lift the vehicle high enough so that I can walk under the runways easily, without having to duck.
Here is the question - I have this vision of raising the vehicle, not stopping at the correct locking position and then hearing the sound of the roof of the car crashing into the garage ceiling
. I was planning on installing a emergency shutoff switch (i.e panic switch) in case the motor locks in the "on position", but was thinking it would be nice if I could ensure the lift stops at the designated position each time it is raised.
Any suggestions/ideas how this could be achieved? Is this something that you can "dial in" on the lift or do I have to insert something (metal stops?) into the locking mechanism on the posts - so that the lift stops at correct height for my situation?
Thanks,
Mordi
