Direct Lift Pro Park Install Help

I am close to pulling the trigger on a Direct Lift Pro Park 8S but had a question for anyone who has installed these. My garage is exactly 20' deep. The installation instructions state you need a minimum of 6' in the front of the lift for installation. I am assuming this relates to the release linkage installation. I will only have about 5' in front between the lift and the wall. Is this going to be a major issue?

Any help would be appreciated.

There's no issue. I went through the exact same thing. My garage is also 20' deep and the release rod is just under 5' long. I made sure when I was putting the lift together that I had it pushed as much forward as possible so the rod would fit and in the end there was plenty of room.

The long release rods (probably three total lengths with two couplers) are in about 6 ft lengths. They hide inside one of the raceways. Since one end of the outside rods is threaded and the other end has a welded bracket, you have to feed in the rods (through the crossbeams) from the front and rear of the lift.

For me, I had roughly 5.5 feet or so, but if you angle it in correctly, you can make it work. I got lucky I guess. Did you buy the wheels to make the lift movable? If so, then just set your posts over a foot to be sure, then roll it back. If not, grab a crossbeam and lay it on the floor near your wall, and grab a rod and see what the minimum distance is you can get while still sliding in the rod. Then start your column setup.

If you need any other help or pix please let me know. I bought the best buy auto equipment version, which (by the installation instructions) looks to be identical to the direct lift.
