Time for a Direct Tools continuing thread.

Direct Tools Outlet sells refurbished and blemished items from TTI including Ridgid and Hart but mostly Ryobi. They offer an online store with a flat shipping fee, normally $15 as well as some brick and mortar stores found around the country, usually in outlet malls.

For 10/31/23 only there is a sale of 40% off almost all items online and 50% off almost all items in-store. There is not a shipping fee reduction for this sale.

A note on the two equipment conditions:
- "Factory blemished" items received have been new with very minor cosmetic issues, come in factory packaging and you can register for full factory warranty. For Ridgid, you have to mail in for the SLA, not too much of a hassle if you remember to do it.
- "Factory Reconditioned", repaired for some reason, gives you a 1 year warranty as long as you keep your receipt. Packaging can be hit or miss possibly resulting in some shipping damage. Inspect and test.

Overall, I've had very good luck with Direct Tools.

Limited selection of Ridgid stuff in general anymore, sale or no sale. HD got on them about selling new stuff as blemished from what I read.
Again the thing I want to go on sale hasn't gone one sale since I think last Black Friday (when I forgot to order after looking)

Welp, makes a case to consider a new brand I suppose. As a causal DIYer, Ryobi would probably suit my needs and be available with steep discounts a few times per year

I'm invested in DeWalt, but for some tools I rarely use- Ryobi is perfect. I just have battery adapters that let me use my DeWalt batteries in the Ryobi tools.

The store on the headquarters/distribution center grounds also has Milwaukee stuff. I never checked the prices too closely since I'm invested in ridgid stuff but a bunch of coworkers got heated jackets on the cheap last year.

You can also upload a copy/picture of your receipt to get the LSA.

With the $15 flat rate shipping it doesn't usually make sense to pick up just a tool or two. Today's deal is a 30% off some stuff and free shipping on everything. Might be the time to snag that loner you have had your eye on.

They almost got me. Surprised that the BF deal isn’t as strong. (No free shipping, still “only” 30% off)

There’s a battery adapter for using DeWalt batteries on Ryobi tools? I better start a new wish list!
You won't find them officially made by DeWalt, but yes they exist. Check Amazon or eBay. I think they are generally around 2 for 10-15 range. Only thing to watch out for is don't drain the battery all the way down or leave them in the tool- DeWalt safety protections are in the tool while Ryobi is in the battery, so you won't have those and can shorten the life of the battery.

Also look at 3DPrintedAdapters on Etsy. Well built but more expensive. Worth watching: TTC's Battery Adapters episode.
Keep in mind not to fully run down a dewalt battery in a 3rd party tool. Some of the management smarts are in the Dewalt tool itself and not the battery.

A little late today, but for those that like Ryobi and some other brands, their outlet store has 30% off on a lot of tools, and free shipping today on most items with the promo code "MOTHERSDAY"

Anything that is labeled "factory blemished" is overstock and almost never is blemished. Confirmed this with their product engineering team that is a customer of mine.
