Hi all, I am going to buy this direct-vent propane heater very soon from Northern Tool for my 18 x 30 foot shop:

I plan on running this heater off a 40 lb camper propane tank (the ones that are about twice as big as a BBQ size bottle). My question is, can I use a hose/regulator like this on from Amazon to go from the bottle (which will be outside) directly to the heater itself:

Heats 525 sqft, you are slightly over, probably not a big deal.
Requires 115 volts for the 125cfm blower.
The hose will work probably though you will need a 3/8 flare/npt adapter and probably a couple of other fittings.
Tank outside may freeze up not giving you the reliability you may desire.

40lb tank dosnt really vaporize much more than a 20lb tank. You will prob not have issues with that 15k and freezing. I think some BBQ grills are more btu than that.

15k may be a bit to small.

Thanks for the replies. I know the heater is a bit undersized for my space, but I'm OK with heating the shop to like 55-60 degrees if the outside temp was say 15 degrees or thereabouts. I'm not looking for 70 degrees plus. Also the space is insulated on walls and ceilings with fiberglass batts, good tight windows etc.

My big question is what kind of regulator setup I need? I bought the universal Mr. Heater connection kit from Northern: https://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_38915_38915

Question: Can I use any generic BBQ hose/regulator kit to go from the Mr. Heater metal hose to the propane tank? It seem like most BBQ regulator hose kits have a 3/8 NPT brass female fitting, and I see the Mr Heater hose kit has a 1/2 to 3/8 adapter (male/male) to reduce the 1/2 inch female to a 3/8 male fitting, which I assume could then connect to any generic BBQ regulator/hose kit with a female 3/8 fitting, like this one:

Probably a generic one from BBQ would work as some of them are pretty high output.
It doesn't state in the specs page what the inlet pressure needs to be which makes it hard to say "YES" that regulator will work. If it is cheap enough, try it?
