I want to disconnect the two zoning stages in my house while we do some remodeling. The zone two thermostat will basically be exposed to outside air for a few days and I dont want its input.

I have a honeywell hz311 zone controller and forced air gas heat.

Can I disconnect the tstat 2 wiring from the controller and move the zone 2 damper wires to the zone 1 damper connection on the controller? I assume this would use the tstat1 to control both dampers at the same time.

If it has the normal honeywell spring open power close dampers simply turn off the zone 2 stat and unhook the zone 2 damper wires, that will keep the zone 2 stat from being able to call for heat and the damper will stay open do it will get air anytime zone 1 is running.
