thought long and hard about getting a power probe , bit of luxury for me as i could get by with scraps of wire and meter , but it looked like a nice time saver so decided to go with a powerprobe over a no name china import

so waited 4 weeks for it to arrive in the uk from usa , paid the post office my £18 in fee's and tax:mad:

yay crack it open and its a dud lol ...got to looking at it and seems the battery clamp is dud , no problem i think , email customer service " i suggest you buy new battery clamp" , cant send me one , cant sell me one lol

here you go power probe i fixed it for you...dry joint on the terminal , now i have the scabby *** jimmy rigged connector to remind me of the **** quailty everytime i use it

Which PP model is it? First time I've heard of bad service from them. I actually live in the same town where the facility that first invented it is. It's such a small building they definitely don't do their manufacturing there anymore like they did for the very first version.

That's where their manufacturing plant is, the PP was actually invented a couple hours north in Santa Barbara. They had a huge presentation when I was in college taking the auto courses at Santa Barbara City College. Very cool guys and gave away several basic units and one person got the master kit.

When I bought mine I had a few questions pre purchase called customer service. One point that made clear is that warranty only applies to items purchased from authorized dealers. Something related to them being on some tool trucks. Didn't stop me from buying from the cheapest seller, but it was a factor in whether I bought it or not.

I had a power probe. I prefer just a multimeter and Load pro, and a set of retractable magnetic test leads. I also hate that the videos from power probe teach people to pierce wire insulation to test.

seems a post on facebook showing the dead on arrival part , along with a 1 star review for customer service and quality control might have got the ball rolling now

stay tuned , will update if they make it right with me , shame they needed leaning on to do the right thing

My powerprobe 2 finally kicked the bucket the other day and i was going to get the latest power probe, but a guy at my shop got this thing called an Autel ps100 that i played around with. The Autel actually uses the same wires and extensions as the power probe, so you can use your old ones and it appears to do everything the power probe does at a fraction of the cost. A new Autel can be had for about $90 on ebay if you look around, i just pulled the trigger on one because i figured i couldnt lose on it. The thing also has an Oscilloscope feature....
