Disappearing paint?

Hello fellas,
When I installed my Rotary lift I sand blasted and refinished the bottom 3' of the towers. Ford engine blue was a perfect match!
In the years since the top layer of blue has been disappearing, leaving the primer exposed. It has crept all the way across the floor plates to the columns. I did caulk the bases to the floor with clear silicone after installation. Would that silicone cause this condition? Any ideas?

Consult the manufacturer of your paint.

You have not identified to us anything about the coating you used, but the color, so I can not intelligently address your complaint.

Do you wipe off the bottom 3', or do you wash out the garage floor using any special soap? I just can't imagine 3' of paint just disappearing off of the column without having some sort of manual help.

Maybe it was a Ford camouflage paint....its there but ya just can't see it!! Paint just does not just disappear. I suspect it's going to comback to the preparation of the surface. After sand blasting as the surface swept, washed or wiped down. An appropriate primer, then sanded before the Ford Blue....what ever kind of paint that is.....was applied. All factors I would think. If it was a paint that requires a clearcoat, and you didn't clearcoat it, I think I know your problem!

I apologize for the lack if information. I used rattle primer and paint. The paint loss as I said is confined to the floor attachment plate. The "Ford blue" I used referred to the engine color Ford used in the past. The topcoat was enamel engine paint.
