I ordered a set of Bonney Wrench last week was all excited when the box came, but it was empty. I am reaching out to the seller hopefully it will work out. Looks like someone at the post office likes collecting tools too.

Had that happen a few weeks ago. Though it was due to poor packaging and not thievery. Least that's what I'm telling myself. In my case the seller made it right and shipped a replacement.

I wonder if it was the same Canadian that sold those Miller 211 at great price, shipped a piece of paper in an express envelope few years back here....

If the box is not damaged in any way, I would think the seller might have just shipped an empty box....

I've had similar things happen and have never had trouble getting my money back from eBay. The trouble is sometimes the item that is lost/damaged was a great deal or rarely available.

For example I bought a set of Matco double box ratcheting wrenches for a great price as one wrench in the set was missing. It just so happened that the missing size was also available from a different seller for a fair price so I bought both on the same day. The set showed up in a package that looked like a wolf was chewing on it and half the wrenches were missing. I got my money back and had to return the wrenches I did have. However it did nothing to help that I now have one oddball wrench that was originally purchased to complete a set.

Yeah I got some Bonney wrenches at a great price maybe he didn't want to let them go at that price, but he could of just canceled the auction so I don't think he would go throught the trouble sending a ups ground empty box. The box looked like the tape was cut when it arrived. It just ***** I really wanted the Bonney Wrenches. I will get the money back through paypal. Hopefully he can file a claim with UPS.

Save the box. I had this happen earlier this year with a fellow GJ'er, box looked like it had been through the fires of hell. He filed a claim with USPS, they had me hold onto to the box until the claim was settled and he and I were both refunded.

I've had some ebay trouble before...but not that bad. I boughta Diamond chain wrench as a BIN auction, then the seller messaged me saying he had entered the wrong price and wanted more money. I told him that if he didn't send me the item at the price I paid, I'd leave a negative feedback. I did get the wrench eventually. Hope you get resolution.

If it mean anything, I bought 300' of #1 copper wire back in December and after it didn't arrive and never heard anything back from the seller (over a couple days), I contacted the Post Office to start a lost package claim. A day later, they informed me the cable was shipped via a flat rate envelope for less than ten bucks. Needless to say, the PO and ebay both opened investigations into it, though I never heard anything else. Ebay did refund my money back, though it took a couple weeks. I left negative feedback and e-bay said that if the missing seller left negative feedback, they would remove it 9never happened).

Ebay sellers can't leave negative or neutral feedback.

Ebay is horrible to deal with. If, for some reason, they don't help you, call paypal. They are much more helpful.

Agreed. I've only had two instances where I needed to file any kind of claim, and eBay was useless. When I know I've been screwed, I want relief instantly. PayPal does not screw around. I imagine the whole dispute process is real pain in the *** for those well intentioned sellers though, when buyers try to screw them.

I'll say this, I'll work with any seller on an issue and I have plenty of patience and understanding. The only thing that will cause me to get upset is to get no response to an issue. After 72 hours with no return email, I'm ready to unleash hell on someone.

Years ago I read about a guy who ordered a high end guitar amp from ebay at an awesome price. UPS delivered him a box of cut up sheetrock pieces. Seller blamed UPS. It turned out that the seller was pulling a scam.

The seller reached out I don't feel like it was a scam, just poor packing only had one piec of tape on bottom so maybe they fell out. I t seems like he wants to work something out It wasn't alot of money just the fact it was some nice Bonney wrenches pretty cheap.

What does the package weight on the label say? That will be a big clue as to whether the seller shipped an empty box or the item got stolen along the way.

Shows 1lb with UPS which might be right for 4 wrenches.

I always insure what I ship. That being said I have shipped close to a thousand items from a socket to a 70 pound vise and have never had a problem. Maybe the insurance makes postal employees take a little more care when handling packages or maybe not.

I missed the old days of EBay when it was people trying to get rid of used items. I bought a ton of used car parts and EBay was great. You can still do that but scams and sky high prices have driven me away. Not to get off topic but besides Craigslist, is there source?

OP, I hope this gets fixed. PayPal or any CC company will fix this ASAP.

yeh as a buyer on ebay you got nothing worry about.
Just a little patience and you always get your money back or a deal .
As a seller and more so private seller things can go nasty for no fault of your own.
I sold a set plus few extra added sizes of snapon socket swivel wrenches which in superb condition and quality 20 year old era tools. took time picture them and state couple had chrome chips on open ends and light marks on chrome as they been used. Would be hard pushed find a set better but buyer moaned and complained not as listed due to chrome chips on open tips even though had pic both sides for every wrench. Would of lost 2 charges of insured tracked shipping as would of been charged return and it expensive due to value and weight.
Also loose the selling fee as not reimbursed . Done a deal in end with buyer but he PITA and unrealistic in what wanting, think he milking the system a bit .
Don't sell on eBay unless special reason but buying no hassle as can kick the seller in the balls and eBay got your back all the way if play the claims smart :-/
I much prefer meeting buyers and cash in hand sales so craiglist more rewarding experience and money return too .

I have lost money from returning faulty item. Ebay does not help if you have not paid via them and there is no reference to anywhere in their policy that you can ask for return label.

Maybe it's different in the UK, but in the US you simply ask the seller for a return and if the reason is SNAD vs buyer's remorse the seller pays for return shipping. (Ebay issues the label and debits the seller's account). Refund is automatically issued once the item is rec'd by the seller.

If the seller disagrees with the SNAD, the buyers asks for Ebay to review the case. If Ebay agrees with the buyer then they issue the return shipping label. (Ebay almost always agrees with the buyer as long as the buyer makes a reasonable case).

It's almost impossible for the buyer to loose.

If a buyer want to return an item because of buyer's remorse, sellers should almost always say yes because the buyer will pay the return shipping. If seller's refuse returns all the buyer has to do is claim SNAD and then the sellers pays for the item's return.
