Disappointing Holiday Tool Sales

Is anyone else here disappointed with the Holiday Tool sales to this point? I know it's only the first week of December but, I think the sales so far ****. I don't know, maybe it's just me. How many times do the same sets of Gearwrenches need to go on sale? (I know, until they sell all of them). I was eyeing a Wera Zyklop that Sears had in the weekly value section but, they upped the price from $175.99 to $199.99 when this friends, fools, family, and VIP **** started. Maybe it will go back down later in the week. 10% off is like no sales tax here. Where's the half off all Gearwrench items sale this year? I don't think it's going to happen. Hell, even the Snap on Holiday flyer doesn't have much to offer except for maybe those new low profile sets. I think the one decent deal I saw this week were the 11 piece racks of 3/8 drive sockets in the Craftsman club flyer for $9.97 or the half off prybar set. You can't really beat those for replacing misplaced common sockets but, that's just me. Here's to better sales in the coming weeks.

That same flex head gear wrench set Sears is now advertising in the newspaper for "$35 off!" at a price of $89.99. As I recall, $89.99 was the normal (highest you'd ever pay) price before thanksgiving. This is no sale at all, especially when they were recently on sale for $35 and $40.

Last season they had Craftsman wrench sets 1/4 to 5/8 with a roll, for $5. Nothing like that this year.

Here's to more people participating in this boring thread.

I agree things have been boring lately. Sorry, just wondering if I've missed the great deal. Must be the weather. On a side note, the nearby Sears has sold out of theose stupid dogbone wrenches and the BBQ black spline wrench sets. I guess there will be many lucky individuals on Christmas morning.:wtf:

They won't get cheaper now. People that wait this long for gifts don't get the best sales.

i've wanted a set of ratchet wrenches for probably half my life (22) and i finally got a set of gearwrench reversibles from sears for $40 - i was pretty happy with that, since i actually went on "black friday" when they had the sets for $30, but sold out almost instantly.

i also picked up a $90 reciprocating saw for $55 for my dad for christmas. finally joined craftsman club and got a 3 ton steel floor jack for $60 most of my tools i've inherited, but i think i got pretty good deals, considering

Sears has Wera Zyclop?

I'm feeling what you say, I actually thought the prybars were a good deal too. The sales seem lame though. I didn't even go to sears for the extra 10% off tonight.

You're not the only one noticing that many of these so called sales have all sucked.

But there are some decent ones. Sears is definitely disappointing me this year. Then again, last year they had better sales before Thanksgiving as well.

Bear in mind that a lot of people are going to go shopping anyways this time of year, so there's less incentive to go all-out. Offer an unexciting promotion on a mediocre product, and people will still come running.

$10 8 flashlight sets and $50 special cripped cordless tool sets, $30 shop-vacs with short cords, short hoses, and weaker motors, and people will still come running ready to throw their wallets at retailers.

Retail stores are focusing on electronics and similar products. If they lose $40 by selling an average shopper last year's TV model, they then get it back by selling them $200 or more in overpriced cables and warranties, or that Blu-Ray player that you never thought you needed until you saw it on sale at the store.

I was at a local supermarket yesterday, and every five minutes they were mentioning a 19" LCD monitor/TV for $120. Then, in the middle of the store was a 32" TV. Thank goodness Wegmans doesn't pull this kind of ****.

Ha ha! I was at Sears buying every last utility knife they had ($8) as gifts for the garbage and recycling guys and people were snatching those dogbone wrenches up like they were the the new Tickle Me Elmo of tools. I couldn't help but laugh to myself. A part of me wanted to say NOOOO! Don't buy that!

Fedwrench, I just got a December 13 - 24 Craftsman Club flier. It's different than the "month of December" one. You may want to check it out.

The local Sears was pretty much wiped out on the dogbone and spline wrenches.
