Well sir, that was no fun at all. I'm sure some of you already know where this is going.
I got it all apart pretty easy with the tips from some of the fellas but when I looked at how it went together I knew I was in for a pain in the a**.
I struggled getting that ball bearing back in and after countless attempts at using fingers only (dropping the bearing several times as well) I made myself a little tool that worked perfect. I snipped out a piece of thin curved plastic from an aerosol can lid and filed a nice flat spot in the bottom of it to help keep that pesky bearing in place. Got it on the first try and the pawl went in perfect.
I reached for another part of the ratchet and I heard the whole thing go "ping" and then I hear the little bearing hit the wall somewhere behind me (but didn't see it) and roll. I couldn't believe it, after all that and finally getting it in place I do something stupid like this........spent the next hour trying to find it and thank god I did finally. The lesson here is never take your fingers off that area, it's loaded up and ready to fire!
Finally after learning my lesson, I got it all back together and it works beautiful thanks to Moose and his Permatex White Lithium suggestions.
