Hi all. I have a Snap-On 5 position ratcheting screwdriver SGDMRCE44 which is not working properly. When unscrewing the ratcheting mechanism is working fine. But when I try to screw fasteners the ratcheting mechanism will get stuck on back stroke even at low torques. The problem does not occur if I press the switch lever against the handle. I live in Europe so I cannot have a warranty service. Do you know how to take apart this type of screwdriver? I saw a thread where was shown how to disassemble other types of Snap-On ratcheting screwdrivers. I want to take apart the switch lever or the ratchet itself. There is a black cap on the side of the handle. Under that cap there is a snap ring. If remove it I can probably disassemble the handle in two parts. I don’t know if I can take apart the ratchet mechanism or the ratchet switch lever. Can you help me please?

Finally I managed do take a part the screwdriver and fix it. I will try to explain it (I apologize for my English). Here is the representation of internal parts:

Set the cap number 5 (or switch lever) in the screwing position. Insert a thin rod in the hole of the cap 5 to depress the pin number 15 and in the same time turn the cap 5 in counterclockwise direction. Then pull out the cap. From that moment you can easily take apart the rest of the ratcheting mechanism.

The ratchet mechanism has a planetary gear system. When the switch lever 5 is in the screwing position the gear on the shaft 13 will engage with the gear 12 in the front of the screwdriver (the gear 12 situated near the switch lever 5). When unscrewing the gear on the shat 13 will engage with the gear number 12 placed in the back. The shaft number 13 rests on the piece 10 which is a metallic circle. I had to add a washer next to circle 10 there so the shat 13 would be situated closer to the front gear 12 in order to have a better engagement. Now my screwdriver works fine.
I hope I was clear and that my case helped someone.

Thank you for info. I live in France. I have bought a pre-owend screwdriver on the Internet so I don't have any purchase ticket. I have read the terms and conditions of Warranty for a personal use:
Quote:
"The following information will be required with the customer’s warranty request: (1) date and proof of purchase, (2) where customer purchased the product, (3) full name, (4) shipping address, (5) phone number, (6) e-mail address, (7) item number(s) or approximate weight of return package. Warranty requests that do not include all of the required information will not be processed. "
So I don't think I can benefit from waranty.
Anyway I managed to repair my screwdriver and I'm glad I could see how it's working inside.

I forgot to mention this:

"This warranty only extends to the original Customer and cannot be transferred or assigned"
