Ok, so I bought a 7pc Snap-On Green racing screwdriver set, older style hard handles, in almost new condition. But I get them yesterday and pull them out of the tray and there is discoloration spots all over the bottoms and sides of the handles, is there any way to remove them and does anybody else get the same problem? Thanks for any help.~Junk

No, it's bluish-gray (same as the tray) and is were they sat against the tray so long.

I have a black hard handle 3/8" that the handle got funky. Not soft, just discolored. Can't say what it came in contact with, but it must have been something it didn't like.

Try a little rubbing compound and then polishing compound. It has worked for me. Little buffer if you have one

Start with Purple Power and a tooth brush first; then rinse with water.
Avoid any kind of abrasives because they can remove the grain (used for increased grip) in the plastic.

Mine have done it also, nothing removes it as its in the plastic. Looks much worse in person. A pair of my wire strippers are doing it as well from sitting on the drawer liner

A dab of the original gojo might work. The white/red tubbed product.

I have had it do wonders on plastic discoloration and stains.

Hope that or something helps you.

If you look at the bottom of the tray it looks like the plastic is worn, like from opening and shutting the tool box a lot and the drivers rattling around. The discoloration is in all of the spots the tray is worn

I have another set of green hard handles, but they do not have the discoloration. They are slightly newer and i use them more.

I just removed some similar marks from some of mine. Shop cloth with a bit of pure acetone on it, lightly and quickly "buff" the handle with the cloth and it should remove it. Just be warned, acetone eats these handles and it will melt the plastic, so be quick and careful or you can do damage to them.

Couple of mine had what looked like overspray on them, nothing else would take it off. Quick buff with acetone and the overspray was removed and they're nice and glosssy.

I have the Orange version of this set (although with out the "Racing" part of the logo) and my handles do the same thing. It is from the tray. Here in AZ when it gets to be 120 + degrees in the summer time my garage gets even hotter than that. I actually have to break them loose after sitting in the tray in the heat for awhile. Same with my prybars and other hard handled snap on tools. Does not seem to happen to my newer Instinct stuff or sets in the older smooth silver plastic trays like my scrapers.
