Disconnect box amp rating.

I have a garage that I built the begining of this
year. It's a 24X24 with a attic loft (10X24). I'm going
to run power from the house to it, which is about 40'
total lenght from house panel(200A) to garage panel(100A)
with about 30' trenched under the ground. I have looked around
some and can only seem to find 60A disconnect boxs. What gives?
This probably going to be enough Amps, but I would like to be able to
have more if needed. Is it a waste of money? just running lights
and maybe a split ac someday, compressor, and welder Oh and not all
at once.

What is the disconnect box for?

Edit: If it's for a disconnect of the 100A panel then you should use a main breaker panel with a 100A main disconnect in the panel. If it's a main lug panel then back feed a 100A breaker as a disconnect.

Try a real supply house, not home depot

All the box stores have is shuts offs for hot tubs and AC units. As mentioned above, go to a real supply store.

Its always nice to have an outdoor disconnect you have access to incase something happens inside the garage and you cant get to the house panel fast enough to shut it down.
Same reason you install a disconnect outside of a house where the indoor panel is more than 10' from meter socket.

Thanks I have looked a little bit, I'll have to put
some more time in finding one with more capacity than the
Large Box Stores carries. I'm sure it is also "required" by
code. I'll post up what I find.
