Anyone have these sets (now on clearance) who can comment on the quality?

I really like the quality of the older Duralast stuff, and I am wondering how these compare. Since they are on clearance they are not stocked locally and can't see them in person before ordering.

These pliers are definitely not perfect. They are not always cut and ground with precision. The teeth will not line up perfectly. In spite of this the tools work perfectly fine. I love the handles and the inexpensive price. I have had great luck with the autozone warranty. No problems even without receipt. If you want a perfectly made work of art tool go with Klein's, knipex, or any of the truck brands. If you want a tool that works (takes some abuse and misuse) and comes with a great warranty these are for you. Personally I like and own a few. But for dikes and linesman I use Klein's. I am attached to higher quality cutters.

The AZ near me has changed tool lines about five times since 2011 when the OP asked.

Some things stayed on and most other flash and gone. They currently have Powerbuilt and OEM as flagship lines. Odd discount **** always, that never changes.

I never got to try Duraleast here but how different can it be from the regular revolving brands they use?

Most of it works, some of it is quite good. Only the rathet like objects ever failed consistantly.

Years ago I was in AZ and picked up a neat little stubby ratchet with 3/8 on one side, 1/4 on the other. Took my grinder and removed the 1/4" side since I never used it. It has turned out to be one of the favorites of mine and my son's.
Found it on Amazon this week and ordered him one too since he just started Auto Tech school. I don't want mine to grow legs.
