Was out at PicknPull yesterday to grab some parts for my 3800SC Fiero I'm working on and while going through the checkout I saw they had a flimsy tool cart piled with sockets and such. Sockets were $1 each (all low grade junk) and everything else was $2 each. They were loading stuff into the cart as I was standing there so I went over and browsed.

Ended up with the stuff in the picture for $26. Meter is a Sperry, folding hex key set is a Klein and the smallest pipe wrench is a Stilson. Everything else was Ridgid. ***** they charged me for each die but I was willing to pay it - $2 for the set would have been even nicer. Dies are 1/4", 3/8", 1/2", 5/8", 1" and 1-1/4".

Thanks for the 'you ****' :) Nice to finally get a decent deal. I was rather surprised that stuff was left in a vehicle but maybe it was an insurance payoff for contents and not worth the owner's trouble to try and pick up. They also have tons of books, roadside hf toolsets, funnels, auto repair manuals laying around also but I never see anything decent there. First time I had noticed the tool cart tho.

I did forget something since I had already put it away. Same price but forgot I bought the ratchet handle for the pipe threader with a die in it. The other $2 was for a Porter Cable reciprocating saw with quick change. Not the prettiest thing but it certainly works.

The Rigid iron pipe dies are big bucks new. However, it doesn't appear they all fit that handle. One or two you don't need will pay for all you bought.

Less than I paid for mine! Nice score!

I had an SC3800 Fiero too!

I forgot about the saw as being part of the deal since I had already stowed it away to get it off the floor. I counted up the objects and it matched the cash I spent so I thought I was right. The saw looks ummm well-handled so I can't even tell what model it is since all the stickers are gone but it is a full metal case with the quick change for blades.

The Fiero has been a long term project around deployments. I just got the wiring harness done and am now wrapping up the last details before I put it in tomorrow. I hope to crank it by the middle of the week. The car is an 86SE which is sorely in need of a paint job.

Nice haul. Doesnt really surprise me that those places would sell used tools, every time Im in one I manage to find a tool that someone else forgot. Like you said though, usually the found tools are junk.

Think of all the change sitting in them. Each car could probably buy you dinner. :lol_hitti

When I was a kid I used to go to pick n pull with a friend of my mother's and he would buy a couple engines at a time plus misc. parts for several cars he would usually have around he was fixing and selling.
Anyway I would take off door panels and look for change on all the cars for hours while they did their business. This was Pick N pull in the early 90's.
Also learned how to use seat belt webbing as a chain to pull engines.

Yeah, junk cars have all kinds of good stuff in them. You might be surprised at thing your find. I found my first SK tool set complete in case in a car when I worked at a junk yard.
