Sorry if this ain't garage related but thought someone here would surely know the answer.
I've got my conduit ran under my rock road to the Shop for telephone/internet.

Have DISH network TV at the trailer which is a mile from the property where the Shop is.

I'm thinking I can get me some TV over there via the Dish anywhere app. With a compooter or dumb phone I know.
But, what about Amazon Fire Stick?

I suppose I'd have to have a "smart" TV to begin with. ?? And I'm assuming Fire stick has the Dish anywhere app, or does it?
Connect internet modem ethernet to TV, connect Fire Stick and get same programming at the Shop including local channels, without installing another Sat Dish.

Will it work?

Thanks

You don't need a smart TV, just the Amazon Fire Stick. You can download the Dish anywhere app onto the Fire Stick
and use the app to watch TV. Using the app you can watch Dish or even recorded shows from your home DVR.

Thanks much Mark!

Theres no Ethernet connection on the fire stick. That’s means I’d be counting on my modem and fire stick to hold hands via WiFi only.
Right?

In a metal building I’d prefer a wired connection somehow.

Ah, but you can buy an adapter for ethernet to the stick.

Cool, thanks!
No. Roku is just the platform that hosts all the "apps".
Ok thanks. But. I already own a spare fire stick, so doubt I’d venture into the Roku world.
Honestly I ain’t a fan of “streaming” anything . We live in the sticks and our internet ain’t up to snuff with the city folk.

Sometimes when using the fire stick the tv will stall out.
Nothing drives me nuts like the little symbol on my tv doing hot laps while I stare at it with my mouth open…….then the serious cussing starts.

I have cornfields for miles here. Fast internet is pretty easy nowadays. Of course depends on location. The "new" ;) way is using cell towers for internet access. No cables, or dishes. TMobile Home Internet (nothing to do with a phone, completely different thing) is very fast, never down, no data limit..$50 month. If it's somewhat flat and there are towers around, probably would work there.

No cell service here at the house or at our property. We rely on WiFi calling here and also have a land line.

At our property I have one spot, and I mean spot, where my dumb phone gets enough signal to text but you can forget about a telephone call. No cell towers around here and we’re surrounded by National Forest and hunnerd foot pines.

That is the reason for getting internet at the shop. So we can at least use the telephone via WiFi.

Which led me to the question about the TV stuff.

WiFi should be fine with the Fire Stick you have, I've used the dish anywhere app with mine connected to a dumb TV and the app is pretty ok, not like using a Dish receiver but still pretty good.

The Fire Cube has an ethernet port for a wired connection but since you have a stick, I'd just use that. I have one I'm planning on using in my shop to access Dish programming once I get that far in construction.

If you can get it in your location, sign up for Starlink. Should work anywhere. There seems to be some wait time to get on but its worth it when you live where there is nothing else. And suddenly you have broadband.
