i'm replacing the fill valve on my miele dishwasher, and instead of buying their $150 one, i just want to use a $20 generic 120V AC one. this thing's 18 years old anyways (miele dishwashers rock... G 892 SC U PLUS if anyone's curious).

anyhow, the miele one has a straight, female GHT connection on it.

i'm seeing two common generic types..

1) male GHT (plastic threads 🤮):

2) mystery connector (e.g. part# 154637401 or 00622058 valve):

my question is this.. does anyone know what this mystery connector is? it sort of looks like it could be 1/2" female NPT, but i'm not sure.
i read about people buying a "dishwasher valve brass elbow" that connects to it.

the reason i'm asking instead of just buying and looking at it is i'm not sure which of the two choices will be more convenient for me to adapt to my current plumbing. hard to say without knowing what both options are.

thanks

The dishwasher brass elbow is to connect the 3/4" GHT to 3/8" compression. I'm not sure what that solenoid valve is, but the GHT is the modern type used universally now.

Yes, Ive seen those type valves and they are 1/2” FIP threads. Typically we’d use a 1/2”MIPx3/8”OD compression 90 there but we always ran 3/8” OD copper to the dishwasher. YMMV

Should be a 3/8 male pipe thread to screw in. Then use a flex stainless 3/8 dishwasher hose to hook to household plumbing. This is for the bottom valve listed the top valve is a garden hose thread. Most hose kits you buy have a garden hose elbow fitting in them and the 3/8 male pipe thread to 3/8 compression thread so the kit fits both.
