Display for old school mechanics tools?

Over time I have found some mechanics tools (armstrong from 40's, craftsman circle H and BE series, snap on, mac and other various ones) and I want to display them in a case with a lid, I was wondering if anyone has found a case that could work to display some tool history? My only constraint is that it must be small enough for me to be able to pass it down the line, I'm hoping for like a time capsule concept, that no matter who it goes too they could reasonably store it or display it depending on there choosing.

If the case has a lid then you have to open the lid to see the stuff. I'd consider a framed shadowbox that could be hung on the wall.

If you want your kids and grandkids and great grand kids to care about it then you have to put in a lot of effort to make it look cool and interesting and be a conversation piece on the wall.

I could seal my most prized vintage tools in a display case built stronger than the ones the National Archives keeps the Declaration of Independence and it would be a fool's bet to put $1 up against a $ million that my kids couldn't find a way to use and break or lose at least one tool out of it within days.
